Our Sustainability Promise

At Fiume & River Bar, we recognise the influence and impact that our business has on the environment and the communities in which we operate. We are committed to sustainability and to minimising our environmental footprint, while enhancing the wellbeing of our guests, employees and local communities. We are supported in this journey by our sustainability accreditation partner, Green Tourism.

supporting our community

We’re proud to give back to our local community through meaningful initiatives. We’re a contributor toward the local RLSS by raising money toward the implementation of a throw bag system due to our location by the river. As well as being home to the local defibrillator on site should we need to use it. 


Additionally, we also organise local events for children within the school holidays and run initiatives like ‘kids eat free’ during those periods. As well as this we participate in days like comic relief, red nose day and children in need in the venue and donate to the charity appeals associated.

Environmental initiatives

Eco-friendly practices are at the heart of what we do.
We have daily checks in place to ensure that we continue saving energy. Our lighting is mostly LED and systems put in place to ensure unnecessary lighting is turned off, and motion sensored lighting is used in he outdoor areas. Alongside this we have regular energy meter checks to review our energy usage and the information is discussed with the team to see where we can try and reduce this.


We have regular checks of the local riverbank and wooded area for any debris/rubbish from customers.  

Our Team

We believe in providing a safe and healthy workplace for all team members. We are committed to continually improving our business practices and minimising environmental impact. Our team members play a vital role in reducing our footprint by actively participating in sustainability efforts. Sustainability is a priority, with an on-site Sustainability Champion and regular training for all team members. Energy and activity targets are reported monthly to our head office to ensure progress.

Guest Support

Our guests play a critical role in promoting sustainability in our venue.

We encourage guests to use public transport to travel to and from our venues. We’re located next to some great bus routes.

We also have a responsible guest charter in place as a guide for customers on how to make more sustainable and green choices while visiting.   

Your feedback

We value guest feedback and input in driving innovative ideas to reduce the environmental impact of our hotel. We encourage our guests to send feedback to each venue, sharing their ideas and suggestions for reducing waste, conserving resources, and promoting sustainable practices. By working together with our guests, we can continue to build a sustainability program that provides guests with the flexibility and freedom to stay in a way that aligns with their values and preferences, while also contributing to a more sustainable future.
